Seychelles · Outer coral islands
A flat coral island on the edge of the Seychelles bank, with a working farm, world-class deep-sea fishing off the drop-off, and no granite in sight.
A coral island, not granite
The property
Denis is a different Seychelles entirely — a low coral island 95km north of Mahé, ringed by beach, with none of the boulders the inner islands are known for. It sits on the edge of the Seychelles plateau, where the seabed drops away sharply, which makes the deep-sea fishing exceptional. The island runs a working farm supplying most of the kitchen, and there are around twenty-five cottages and nothing else.
Where you sleep
Around twenty-five beachfront cottages. Which one is right depends on the month and who is travelling — that is the first thing we will ask.

What makes it itself
The island sits at the plateau drop-off — among the best big-game grounds in the Indian Ocean.
Flat and beach-ringed, geologically unlike the granitic inner islands.
Most of what the kitchen serves is grown or raised on the island.
Green and hawksbill turtles nest on the beaches.
