- The originals
Maldives · South Malé Atoll
A tiny island of overwater suites shaped like traditional dhoni boats, with COMO Shambhala wellness and one of the best house reefs in the Malé atolls.
Dhoni suites and serious wellness
The property
Cocoa Island is deliberately small — a slender sandbank with a single line of overwater suites, the earliest of them built in the form of dhoni fishing boats. COMO Shambhala runs the wellness: yoga, Ayurvedic-influenced therapies and the group's famous healthy kitchen. The house reef is superb and the sandbank itself shifts with the seasons. No show, no crowds; it is the quiet connoisseur's choice in South Malé.
Where you sleep
Overwater suites and villas, the originals dhoni-shaped. Which one is right depends on the month and who is travelling — that is the first thing we will ask.

What makes it itself
The original overwater suites are shaped as Maldivian dhoni boats — nothing else looks like them.
A white spit runs off the island's tip and moves with the seasons.
One of the best in the Malé atolls, a short swim from the suites.
Wellness cuisine that people actually want to eat.
