Finolhu's geography is its personality: a vast sandbank runs nearly two kilometres off the island's tip, and the Crab Shack sits alone partway along it — lunch with your feet in the water and nothing else around. The register is playful, retro beach-club rather than hushed luxury: live music, a proper beach club, bright interiors. It shares Baa Atoll's biosphere waters and manta season with its more serious neighbours.
