Seychelles · Anse aux Poules Bleues, west Mahé
Built on the former home of the photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri, on the west coast of Mahé, with a strong design point of view and four restaurants.
A photographer's house, reborn
The property
The site was Barbieri's private house, and the redevelopment kept its character rather than flattening it — the interiors carry his photography and the layout follows the original terraces down to the water. It is more design hotel than resort, which suits people who find the big beach properties samey. The west coast location gives sunsets, and Mahé's south is easy to explore from here.
Where you sleep
Rooms, suites and villas across terraced levels. Which one is right depends on the month and who is travelling — that is the first thing we will ask.
