Soneva Jani sits in a lagoon so large it is effectively private ocean. The villas are the widest-spaced overwater villas in the Maldives, and the signature feature is genuine: a sliding roof over the bed, operated at the touch of a button, so you sleep under the stars. Several villas have a water slide from the upper deck straight into the lagoon — a detail that sounds gimmicky and turns out to be the thing guests talk about most.
