A three-night stay at Baros, one of the oldest resorts in the Maldives, grown into a dense tropical garden with a house reef circling the island. Twenty-five minutes by speedboat from the airport, so no seaplane and no lost day.
Three nights only works if the transfer is short, and Baros is one of the closest luxury islands to Malé. It is small, calm and adults-leaning, with beach, water and pool villas, and a reef you can swim to from the sand. Ideal from India or the Gulf, where the flight is only a few hours.
