Overview
The shortest trip that still feels like the Maldives: a mature garden island with a house reef all the way round, then a small island with an underwater spa. No seaplane, so late flights cost you nothing.
Short trips are won or lost on transfers. Both islands here sit in North Malé Atoll, 25 and 30 minutes by speedboat from Velana, so you are on the sand the afternoon you land and nothing depends on seaplane daylight hours. Baros is one of the oldest resorts in the country, grown into a dense tropical garden; Huvafen Fushi built the world's first underwater spa treatment rooms.

Good to know
- Resort islands are private. Alcohol is served on them and not on inhabited local islands.
- Seaplanes do not fly after dark — a late arrival into Malé means an airport hotel night.
