Not every trip needs two islands and a plan. Milaidhoo is small, Maldivian-owned and unhurried, and its overwater restaurant Ba'theli — built in the form of a traditional trading boat — serves food with an actual point of view about the country you are in. The house reef starts at the villa steps.

- Resort islands are private. Alcohol is served on them and not on inhabited local islands.
- Seaplanes do not fly after dark — a late arrival into Malé means an airport hotel night.
